Inspiria Science Center

Mediator

In association with the research project Frisk Oslofjord, where one of the work pages is to increase the knowledge of the marine ecosystem in the Oslofjord, Eivind was contracted by Inspiria Science Center. A new high school class participated every day and joined Eivind and a college on the boat M/S Rognfjell to become a marine scientist for a day. The students were taught how to take samples as eDNA from seawater, microscopy and identify organisms collected from a soft bottom trawl. With only positive feedback from teachers, students and colleagues, Eivind would do a great job as a teacher or mediator.

eDNA Solutions

eDNA sampling

To monitor the distribution of the fungal parasite Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, which has led to the local extinction of amphibians, Eivind collected eDNA samples for eDNA Solutions. Both B. dendrobatidis- free and infested bodies of waters were sampled to increase the understanding of how the fungal parasite spreads in the Oslo area.
